Requirements to hold office in our POA.
Just received my Newsletter and it was excellent, overall. However, the election notice raises a question. What is the number of property owners who are residents of Ariz.? How many owners are not?
Why are us outlanders excluded from holding office? Is this a form of the 4/5ths rule?
Years ago I was told that even though I traveled to Ariz. from my home in Ohio every 3 months, (or less), I would not be considered as eligible to hold office . My response at that time was; If there is an emergency meeting I could participate via a speaker phone. Not good enough.
Times have changed and so has technology. With Zoom, (and others), it is now possible to, have an active participating out - state officer. Or does this form of gerrymandering work for you?

Phil: This provision is stipulated in VI-8 of our Bylaws, which was decided by the Members upon their written approval of the Bylaws. However, this provision only provides an option for denial of a Board seat to an out-of-state person; it's not a firm requirement. It simply states that a nomination may be denied to someone if deemed that, "his place of residence would significantly impair his ability to attend meetings and/or otherwise be a pro-active". As I noted previously, this may not apply to you. So, please feel free to apply.
Cheers.
